504 Public Notice

The Warrensburg R-VI School District, as a recipient of federal financial assistance from the United States Department of Education and operates a public elementary or secondary education program and/or activity, is required to undertake to identify and locate every qualified person residing in the District who is not receiving a public education; and take appropriate steps to notify disabled persons and their parents or guardians of the District's duty.

The Warrensburg R-VI School District assures that it will provide a free appropriate public education (FAPE) to each qualified disabled person in the District's jurisdiction regardless of the nature or severity of the person's disability. For purposes of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the provision of an appropriate education is the provision of regular or special and related aids and services that (i) are designed to meet individual educational needs of disabled persons as adequately as the needs of nondisabled persons are met and (ii) are based on adherence to procedures that satisfy the requirements of the 504 federal regulations.

 

Public Notice

All responsible public agencies are required to locate, evaluate, and identify children with disabilities who are under the jurisdiction of the agency, regardless of the severity of the disability, including children attending private schools, children who live outside the district but are attending a private school within the district, highly mobile children, such as migrant and homeless children, children who are wards of the state, and children who are suspected of having a disability and in need of special education even though they are advancing from grade to grade. The Warrensburg R-VI School District assures that it will provide a free, appropriate public education (FAPE) to all eligible children with disabilities between the ages of 3 and 21 under its jurisdiction. Disabilities include autism, deaf/blindness, emotional disorders, hearing impairment and deafness, mental retardation/intellectual disability, multiple disabilities, orthopedic impairment, other health impairments, specific learning disabilities, speech or language impairment, traumatic brain injury, visual impairment/blindness and young child with a developmental delay.

The Warrensburg R-VI School District assures that it will provide information and referral services necessary to assist the State in the implementation of early intervention services for infants and toddlers eligible for the Missouri First Steps program.

The Warrensburg R-VI School District assures that personally identifiable information collected, used, or maintained by the agency for the purposes of identification, evaluation, placement or provision of FAPE of children with disabilities may be inspected and/or reviewed by their parents/guardians. Parents/guardians may request amendment to the educational record if the parent/guardian believes the record is inaccurate, misleading, or violates the privacy or other rights of their child. Parents have the right to file complaints with the U.S. Department of Education or the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education concerning alleged failures by the district to meet the requirements of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

The Warrensburg R-VI School District has developed a Local Compliance Plan for the implementation of State Regulations for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). This plan contains the agency's policies and procedures regarding storage, disclosure to third parties, retention and destruction of personally identifiable information and the agency's assurances that services are provided in compliance with the General Education Provision Act (GEPA). This plan may be reviewed at Central Office, 438 E. Market, Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm. This notice will be provided in native languages as appropriate.

PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY

The SAC Program is designed to meet the out-of-school needs of children (K-5th grade). It provides experiences that enrich and enhance each child's cognitive, social-emotional, physical, and language development. Within the SAC Program's daily schedule, each child will have opportunities to create, explore the environment, investigate through problem-solving and personal interaction skills, and learn through “hands-on” experiences. Opportunities for solitary activities, as well as group activities, will be available.

STATEMENT OF GOALS

  1. To create a relaxed, trusting, homelike atmosphere where children are encouraged to pursue their own interests, develop friendships and grow in confidence, independence, and respect for themselves and others.
  1. To provide a caring staff, who show genuine respect for the children and have confidence in each child's potential and promote each child's self-esteem.
  1. To create a stable environment that is inviting, comfortable, attractive, orderly, manageable by the children, and a happy, exciting place.
  1. To provide for the children a variety of developmentally appropriate activities, including expressive art, construction, active play, sports, games, dramatic play, science, cooking, crafts and reading.
  1. To frame a schedule that allows time for each child to observe, to reflect and to become absorbed in activities according to his/her own interests and talents.
  1. To give individual guidance to children based on careful observation of each child's needs and in keeping with parental values and goals.
  1. To offer children opportunities for involvement in and service to the community so that they may develop a sense of participation and contribution; and that they may begin to realize how interdependent the various elements in a community are.

DAILY SCHEDULE - BEFORE SCHOOL PROGRAM

6:00 a.m. Program Opens

6:00 - 7:00 Choice of indoor activity centers

7:00 - 7:35 Choice of small and large group activities with individual choices

 available. Outside time an option- weather permitting.

7:35-7:50 Clean up, wash hands and prepare to leave for school (Martin Warren and Sterling).

7:50-8:10 Catch bus for Maple Grove, Martin Warren and Ridgeview students.

DAILY SCHEDULE - AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

3:20 - 3:50 School dismisses and students travel on school buses from Ridge View, Martin Warren and Maple Grove Elementary schools. Martin Warren and Sterling students walk with staff directly to the SAC centers. Staff signs in the children and briefly informs each group of the day's planned activities and the snack.

3:20 - 4:15 Snack, then time allotted for completing homework and socializing.

4:15-5:15 Small group class time.

5:15 - 5:45 Large group activities and/or individual activity choice time

5:45-6:00 Clean up and prepare to go home.

6:00 p.m. Program closes

CURRICULUM

We stress a well rounded curriculum, providing lessons and activities to develop the whole child including experiences to help them discover their strengths in an exploratory learning environment. Staff receives regular feedback from students, and students are involved in the planning process and in student-led activities.

STAFFING

A Program Director will manage the SAC Program. The SAC staff serves as positive role models and provides care that is personal, nurturing, warm, and responsive to all children. All staff members have experience working with school age children. Many are UCM students majoring in education or other child-related studies. All are required to participate in child care training opportunities, and the staff meets on a regular basis for program development.

HOURS

Before School Care begins at 6:00 a.m. A bus picks up children to take them to their own schools. Students may eat breakfast when they arrive at their school if parents choose this option. 

After School Care begins at 3:20 p.m. and dismisses at 6:00 p.m.

The School Age Community will be open two hours earlier on Collaboration Days, and from 6:00am-6:00pm on Full Days

Full day care from 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. is open to children enrolled in either the Before School or After School Program and is contingent upon a minimum number of children signed up to meet expenses. Sign up sheets will be available for full days at least one month in advance, with a deadline for enrollment/cancellation.

FEE AND PAYMENT POLICY

A $20.00 enrollment fee per family, rather than per child, is payable upon signing up and is non-refundable.

Before School Program: A fee of $25.00 per week, per child for before school care.

 

After School Program: A fee of $35.00 per week, per child. An additional fee of $5.00 per day is charged for care provided on early dismissal days (half-days). An additional fee of $5.00 per day is charged for care provided on collaboration days.

Children in either the Before or After School Programs may attend these early dismissal and collaboration days. For Before School only children, there will be an additional fee of $12.00 for afternoon half-day care ($5.00 early dismissal + $7.00 regular after school fee).

Before/After School Program: A fee of $60.00 per week, per child. An additional fee of $5.00 is charged per day for care provided on early dismissal days (half-days) and an additional fee of $5.00 is charged per day for care provided on collaboration days.

For short weeks when school is not in session for all 5 days, parents pay a daily rate when school is in session and School Age Care is provided.

A 10% discount will be given for families who have siblings enrolled in the program.

An additional fee for optional full-days (teacher in-service days, teacher workdays) of care is $18.00. Children in either Before or After School Care Programs may participate. Each child will also need to bring a sack lunch and a beverage. Should the minimum participation number not be reached, cancellation of the day will be announced at least 3 school days in advance, and credits will be made for payments received.

Please refer to the “HOURS” section on the previous page for an exact listing of dates.

  1. NO reduction of fees for partial weeks due to vacations or illness, or for weeks not attending unless an absence form is completed at least 7 days in advance for full week or more absences.
  1. Payments made for full-days are NOT refundable once it is declared that the day's care WILL be offered. Staffing is arranged on the basis of the number of children signed up for the day; so we must have the funds to pay staff.
  1. SAC will close promptly each day at 6:00 p.m. Parents who are late picking up their child/ren will be charged a $1.00 fee for each child, each minute they are late. For more than 5 late pick up occurrences, the fee increases to $3.00 per child, per minute. Fee must be paid when child is picked up.
  1. Payments are due before the Thursday before the week of service. Please make checks payable to SAC (School Age Community).
  1. Payments made after the due date will incur a $5.00 late fee.
  1. A child will not be accepted for care when a payment is two weeks overdue.
  1. Payments can be left in the locked deposit box at the sign-in desk. Please write your child's name on the memo line of your check or on the envelope if paying with cash.
  1. A one-week written advance notice is required to drop a child from this program, by completing an un-enroll form. If no notice is given, one week of tuition will be due.

 

DAILY RELEASE OF YOUR CHILD

1. Parents or authorized individual must sign the child IN each morning at the Before School Program and OUT at the After School Program with the time and signature.

2. Children will be released from the facility ONLY to the child's custodial parent(s), guardian(s), or authorized person. Authorized persons will be listed in writing on the enrollment form by the parent(s) or guardian(s) of the child. In an emergency, you may call in a change of person authorized to pick up your child, but we prefer written notice in advance when possible.

3. In the event that a court-ordered legal custody situation develops whereby a parent or parents are not allowed to pick up the child/ren without your consent, we ask that you provide us with the original court document to verify that you have legal custody.

4. If you should need to take your child from school before the close of the day, please notify the SAC coordinator by phoning 747-8313. We also appreciate your informing us when your child will be absent.

FOOD

1. Children may eat breakfast at their school upon arrival. Parents need to make payment arrangements for this with their child's school.

2. A nutritious snack will be offered to all children during the After School Program.

3. We do not allow children to bring gum or candy to the SAC Programs.

ORIENTATION OF NEW FAMILIES TO THE SAC PROGRAM

At the beginning of the school year, new families are invited to a Parent/Child Open House before the first day of school to alleviate concerns about participation in our programs.

During the year as new families enroll, they are given a tour of the site and encouraged to visit while a program is in session.

ACCESS TO CHILDREN'S FILES

We respect the privacy of the contents of your child's file. Should you wish to review its contents, you need only ask the Director to get the file for you.

PERMISSION POLICIES

 

Permission slips for children to leave the site for a field trip must be signed by parents/guardians.

HELP US SERVE YOUR CHILD MORE EFFECTIVELY

Please alert the staff when joyful or stressful events occur that may affect your child, (e.g. birth of a sibling, illness, change in family structure, death in family, moving). We will seek to provide extra support for children trying to deal with events that are outside their normal experiences.

SAFETY OF CHILDREN

1. Children will not be left alone or unsupervised.

2. Fire, tornado, intruder and earthquake drills will be implemented on a regular basis.

3. Fire and weather emergency plans are posted in each room used by the program.

4. Health records for each child are kept on site.

5. Emergency transportation authorization is kept for each child.

6. Documentation of a child's injury or accident will be kept on an accident report form. Information will be shared with family and a copy will kept on file.

7. SAC teachers are mandatory reporters of suspected cases of child abuse and neglect and must notify the local public children's service agency (Division of Family Services) if child abuse and/or neglect are suspected.

All staff members are required to annually view the district's training videos provided on-line concerning child abuse, bullying, substance abuse, and internet safety.

8. If there is a need for evacuation, all students will be evacuated to a designated area which will be selected at the time of the emergency. The locations will be:

First Christian Church (101 East Gay Street)

FirstBaptistChurch(1302 South Maguire Street), or

First Assembly of God Church (240 NW 13 Highway).

Because of our proximity to the railroad, if there were a hazardous material spill, we may choose the churches far south of the school (FirstBaptistChurch) or far north of the school (First Assembly of God).

OUTDOOR PLAY

Children may go outside for play, weather permitting. Parents are expected to dress their children accordingly. Children needing to stay indoors for health reasons should bring a note from home regarding this change.

PERSONAL BELONGINGS

1. Since our program provides a wide variety of toys and games, we prohibit children from bringing these from home. This includes hand-held electronic games and personal music devices. If items from home are brought to the center, the staff cannot be responsible for their safe return.

2. Because there are so many children involved in this program, it is very important that all clothing (coats, mittens, hats, scarves, etc.) be clearly labeled with your child's name. This would also include backpacks and lunch boxes.

ILLNESS AND ACCIDENTS

  1. Any child showing signs of illness shall be isolated until he/she leaves the SAC program site. A staff member shall be available to comfort and observe the child periodically. Parents will be notified and expected to pick up the child as soon as they are contacted.

A STUDENT SHOULD NOT BE IN ATTENDANCE AND SHALL BE SENT HOME FOR ANY OF THE FOLLOWING:

*Parasites (head lice, scabies, and intestinal parasites)

*Fever (an oral temperature of 100.2º F or above) - Students may be readmitted to the program when there has been no fever in the preceding 24 hours without medication to reduce fever.

*Generalized skin rash (all over the body) or a rash that has not been identified by a physician.

*Persistent cough, earache, running ear, sore throat, or other symptoms related to communicable diseases such as swollen glands. (A sore throat that is accompanied by fever and enlarged nodules in the neck can be serious. Strep throat is always a concern and should be diagnosed and treated by a physician. Untreated strep infections can produce serious complications.)

Children may return to the SAC program 24 hours after antibiotic treatment has begun and the child is fever-free without medication.

1. If children have been exposed to a communicable disease within the SAC program site, parents of enrolled and incoming children shall be notified. We also appreciate your informing us of any communicable diseases to which your child has been exposed away from the SAC center.

2. A child who does not appear to be fully recovered from an illness shall not be readmitted to the SAC program unless there is a statement by the attending physician that the child is able to return and participate in activities.

3. Immediate treatment shall be obtained for a child who sustains a minor injury such as a scratch, scrape, or insect bits, etc. In addition, the child's parent will be notified.

4. If a major injury to a child occurs, the staff will notify parents immediately. If the child requires emergency medical care, the staff will follow the parent's written instructions provided in the student's file.

5. Parents are required to sign the Medical Emergency Transportation & Treatment Authorization Form.

MEDICATION

  1. The medicine must be brought to SAC by the parent/guardian. Please ask your pharmacist to prepare one bottle for SAC with the number of doses your child will need to take here. It cannot be transported back and forth on the bus. SAC will not administer the first dose of any medication. Medication will be stored in a locked cabinet.
  2. The medicine must be in the original pharmacy-labeled bottle. This prescription label will serve as the physician's order if it includes:

*The student's name

*The current date

*The name of the medicine

*The time to give the medicine

*The exact dose of the medicine to give

The parent/guardian must sign a request form asking the school district to comply with the physician's orders to the SAC site.

Note: The physician's signature is only necessary when the medicine is not in the pharmacy labeled bottle (i.e. over-the-counter drugs or samples).

LICENSING REGULATIONS

Our SAC program is licensed by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services Child Care Center. Parents and guardians may read the licensing regulations at any time by simply asking the Director for a copy of the booklet.

Adventure Club Behavior Intervention Policy

 

Violent Behavior

 

Physical Violence

  • Including assault (hitting, biting, hair-pulling, kicking, etc.) of another child, staff member, volunteer, one’s self, or any other person at the Adventure Club program.
  • Including destruction of school property, or the property of others.
  • Including the threat of physical violence toward any other person at the Adventure Club program or one’s self.

Intervention Process:

ÿ First Offense:

o Child is removed from the group and the parent is called to pick up. Use of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention techniques and the safe room if the student is a threat to others or themselves.

o The child processes the event with program staff.

o An incident report and other necessary documents are completed and signed by a parent.

o Child is suspended for 3 days.

ÿ Second Offense:

o Same as above, except the child is suspended for 1 week.

ÿ Third Offense:

o Child is suspended permanently from the Adventure Club program.

ÿ In severe cases, the child may be permanently suspended on the First or Second Offense.

Verbal Violence

  • Including the use of profanity or name calling directed at another person at Adventure Club

Intervention Process:

ÿ First Offense:

o Child is immediately removed from the group and parent is called to pick up.

o The child processes the event with a staff member.

o An incident report and other necessary documents are completed and signed by a parent.

ÿ Second Offense:

o Same as above, except the child is suspended for a period of 3 days.

ÿ Third and Further Repeating Offenses:

o Same as above, except the child will be suspended from the program for a period of one week.

 

Non-Violent Behavior

 

ÿ Child is given three verbal warnings.

ÿ If behavior persists, the child is removed from the group to a safe seat.

ÿ The child processes with the program staff after a time-out period of 10 minutes or less.

ÿ The child returns to the group.

ÿ If behavior persists, the child is given one warning.

ÿ If the behavior persists, the child is removed from the group and may choose to either do homework or read until a parent/authorized pick-up arrives.

Adventure Club provides necessary modifications and accommodations for students that have an Individualized Education or 504 plans, in order to help each child be successful in the program. Behavior interventions are modified accordingly for non-violent behavior, however the violent behavior consequences will apply.

Attention!!!!
The following defines the difference between part time and full time status for your children at Adventure Club.

Part Time: Child attends at least one day but not more than two days per week. Your account will be charged part time status even if your child only attends one day per week.

Full Time: Child attends at three or more days a week. Your account will be charged for the full time status.

You must let the office know at least a week in advance if you will be gone on vacations or your account will be charged. If your child is absent due to illness or other circumstances, your account will still be charged for that day.

Payment needs to be paid the Thursday before the service. If you do not make your payments on the due date your account will be charged with a late fee of $5 each week your get behind. If you are more than two weeks behind on your payment your child will not be able to attend Adventure Club until your balance paid off.

Adventure Club does not offer drop in services. All students attending must be enrolled in Full Time, Part Time, or Early Dismissal/Full Time programming and accounts will be charged accordingly.

I must provide a week notice (7 days) if I am changing my child’s enrollment (eg. Full Time to Part Time, No Early Dismissals, etc.)

1. I am responsible for payment of the fees due the Thursday before the week of service, or may pay in advance. A $5.00 late fee is applied to accounts not paid by the Friday before the week of service.

2. Payments are not refundable. Food, staffing and activity cost are arranged and/or paid for in advance of the day of service.

3. A child will not be accepted for care if payments are over 2 weeks overdue.

4. If my child will be absent for a week or more, I will not be charged IF I submit an absentee form 7 days or more in advance.

5. I must submit an Unenrollment form if my child will no longer be attending the program. A week notice is required.

6. The enrollment fee for Adventure Club is $20.00.

7. Our program closes promptly at 6:00p.m. Late pickups will be charged $1.00 per child per minute late. More than 5 late pick up occurrences will result in a late pick up fee of $3.00 per child per minute late. Fees are due at pick-up.

8. A medication authorization form is required for any medications that your child needs during his/her time at Adventure Club, and you must provide the medications with detailed instructions.

9. I understand the behavior intervention policy and the consequences for each action. If I am contacted to pick up my child due to violent behavior, I will be there promptly.

10. I must provide a copy of my child’s immunization records.

11. If my child has a fever, he/she may not return to Adventure Club for 24 hours.
