Homemade Play Dough

1 cup flour 1 cup water

2 teaspoons cream of tartar A few drops food coloring

1/2 cup salt 1 Tablespoon cooking oil

1 teaspoon powdered alum

Combine ingredients. Heat and stir until mixture forms a soft ball. Put mixture onto wax paper until cool. Knead slightly to eliminate grainy texture. Store in tightly covered container. This recipe can be doubles.

Edible Playdough

1 cup peanut butter 1 cup corn syrup

1 1/2 cups powdered sugar 1 1/2 cups powdered milk

Mix ingredients together in a mixing bowl and knead. Additional powdered milk may be needed to make the dough less sticky.

Homemade Silly Putty

1 part liquid starch 2 parts white glue

Food Coloring or non-toxic paint

Pour glue into bowl. Gradually add starch and color. Let stand for 5 minutes. Mix with hands until smooth and rubbery. If it is too gooey, add more starch. If it is hard, add more glue. Store in airtight container in refridgerator.

Gooey Goop

1 cup cornstarch 1 cup water

Mix cornstarch with water and pour into a pan or large tub. Goop is fun to experiment with!

Bubble Solution

1 cup water 1 Tablespoon glycerin

2 Tablespoons liquid dish detergent

Mix ingredients together. For wands, use old bubble wands, the plastic ring sections from a six-pack of soda and plastic drinking straws.

Fingerpaint

2 cups flour 2 teaspoons salt

3 cups cold water 2 cups hot water

Food Coloring

Mix together flour, salt, and cold water. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth. Add hot water and boil until it becomes clear. Beat until smooth. Add food color. Store in a covered jar.
